Apple Cider Vinegar Morning Metabolism and Energy Drink

Apple Cider Vinegar Drink

Apple Cider Vinegar Drink

Despite my co-workers thinking I’m crazy, every morning I go to our communal kitchen and prep my apple cider vinegar metabolism drink.

Apple cider vinegar (acv) helps regulate your blood sugar levels, strengthens your immune system and gives you an energy boost. Considering I’m a zombie most mornings, this is a great way for me to start my day – especially as I try and limit my coffee intake.

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces all-natural pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar*
  • 1 teaspoon organic raw honey
  • Juice of 1/2 lime (optional, but recommended)

*You won’t get the full benefits of this drink unless your acv organic and unfiltered, so make sure you buy accordingly. Your local grocery store should have it.

While the directions aren’t complicated (you mix everything together with ice), I’ll break this down in case you’re reading this in the morning before you prep and are therefore not likely functioning at full brain capacity.

Depending on the brand, your honey may stir nicely into your drink. I find that the Trader Joe’s brand that I use needs a little zapping first, so I take my teaspoon and heat it up it up in microwave directly in my mug. My sweet spot has been 20 seconds. No more, no less.

When the honey is good and ready I pour in the pineapple juice and apple cider vinegar and give it a little stir. I use half a can of Trader Joe’s 100% pineapple juice. I put the remaining half of the can directly in the fridge and save it for the next day.

I top it off with a squeeze of lime using my handy dandy Chef’n FreshForce Citrus Juicer. The lime works with the acv to help further alkalize your body and also contributes to the tastiness of the drink. And OH, is it tasty!

Pro tip: I take the remaining half of my lime and and squeeze it into a 20 ounce jar and add water to it (I try and drink 3 of these a day). Once I finish my metabolism drink I have a large glass of delicious flavored water ready for me to guzzle.

Finally, I throw in a few ice cubes and voila, the drink is ready! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)

@bonniejoymassey:disqus kudos for being able to drink it with water, I tried and couldn’t do it! You’ll love it with the pineapple juice :)

Great recipe Tiffany. I recently added Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar to my morning ingestion. 8-10 ounces of water with a quick pour of the Braggs, and down the hatch. Things taste better when you know they are good for you. If I am not mistaken, your dad is Ted, right? Like your blog.

Thanks, Randy! I’ve tried drinking ACV with water alone and it’s just too much for me. Even just a little pineapple juice alone helps cut the taste. Yup, Ted is my dad! He’s mentioned you have a blog as well. I’d love to check it out!

Please be careful I’m not so sure you want to put a metal spoon in the microwave, but I do love this drink it gives me so much energy.

Good call, Raquel :) Thanks for pointing that out. Definitely a good idea to avoid metal in the microwave!

I suspect heating a teaspoon of honey with a cigarette lighter or a kitchen match works just fine as well.

Thatnks for this..But wud like to point out that though evrything here is organic, I would suggest you guys try to avoid microwaving things..put the hiney in a stainless steel bowl or a bowl with a copper bottom and heat it staright on the hob..Avoid microwaving as much as you can..

I would suggest just microwaving a little water then dissolve the honey into the warmed water, then putting that into the drink.

Do you think it’s okay to premix everything (maybe except the lime juice) so it’s a quick pour in the morning? I bought the ingredients, but I find myself not doing it because I have to pull out the recipe. Just wondering if would still be as good if it was all mixed together and waiting to be poured!

I think you could make it every other day, double the recipe. Just squeeze a little wedge of lime on top each new drink. You could even cut up the lime and store in a baggie and get maybe 4-6 pieces for 4-6 drinks. drop the lime in the glass, when done squeezing. I would even use frozen pieces of fresh pineapple instead of juice, blend it with the ice for a frozen drink when its hot out.

My hubby loves his ACV (tablespoon worth) with about 4 oz of grape juice. He drinks it like a shot and loves it.
